A pleasant journey last year, to Norway. My wife and I, we had a very nice tour through Norway and visited two friends of RNARS. Driving by our car through Germany, after that trough Denmark, along the sunny yellow coloured blooming fields of Rapps. By a carferry from Hirthals to Kristiansand South, on bord the ferryship, I called by telephone for a room to night in he ,,Fregatte Hotel,,. The name "Fregatte", made for the hotel all honor, it is rearly a nice hotel for seaman. We did a walk, the city have beautiful old houses made of wood. The next rearly nice city was Stavanger, it looks cosy, it is a very nice town, and harbour . Here in Stavanger we were lucky, so we could visit ,,Bob,, LA2UA, RNARS 2239. I had many QSO’s with Bob in the Sundays I.o.Man RNARS net. Bob lives in a nice house on the sunny side of a hill. We had a very nice talk with Bob, visited his shack, he works with a computer logbook, and sees in a second all contacts we had.. Near Stavanger my wife Elfriede and I, we started very early a mountain tour, up to the Preikestolen. It was a great feeling to lie flat on a ledge, looking town 600 meters to the green water of the fjord., As we started the trip to Norway, I put in a list all important places i will see, like this Preikestolen. On our way back down, it seems there where all Stavangers going up on this warm and sunny sunday. The 14 days we where in Norway was no rain. It was allways sunny and hot, i switched on the air-condition in the car all days. (Why did I take by, all the winter clothes and snowchains for the car ??) On the way north to Odda, Sunday 1 st of June, 12.30 ut the RNARS net runs. I worked with: G3CNO Joe, G3DKH Eric (sometimes i sing with Eric in the qso, hi), OE8NIK Nik, G2VH Bernie, GM4GIF Barry, GW0JXW Brian, I was happy, my Rig works well, it’s an IC 706, 100 W, Whip antenna 2,5m. 2nd of June (my birthday) Kinsarvik,--Eidsfjord,--Voringfoss,-to the beautiful city of BERGEN, a walk along the harbourside, ,,birtdaydinner,, in a nice restaurant at the Bryggen (former warehouses). We went up the mountain by cable train, had a nice view to the city of Bergen with many Hurtigroute and Cruiseships, some going in and out the harbour. Way town on foot. Sorry we are half an hour to late, to doe a visit aboard the big sailship ,,Statsraad Lehmkuhl,,. All days I was QRV on 14.250 at 19.00 lt. In Bergen from the roof of a carparking house, 14 stations, 11 of them are friends who waits for me, that is a great pleasure in amateurradio. We left Bergen on the 4.of June, ---Voss,--Gudvangen,--Flam, by the Flambahnen (railway), up to the bigest cascades. Next day via Hornshütta mountain driving among 7m high snowwalls to the greatest (this means: beautiful) ,,Stafkirke,, in Borgund (church made of wood). In Grodas on a camping place we took a ,,ledig hytta,, (cottage). We had a very enjoyable evening, a Norgemen started with an accordeon, the next brought his guitar and the camping chief took his bassguitar and we all sing and there was a bottle of whisky I payd. Some Germans took part and sayd that they never had found such an enjoyable singing camping place like this and brought champagne out of her caravan. (There is no darkness here in this area at night, so we had to shut the curtains so we will sleep.) Next day on the way, we had a look to the famous Geieranger Fjord, (here we where two years ago on our way to the Northcape.) and than, the nice city of Aalesund. Here we had the luck to find the best guide of Aalesund, that is: ,,Otto,, LA1IE, RNARS 2072. It was nice to see his wonderfull house and Radiostation, from here comes often loud his voice in the sunday’s Navy net. Otto walks with us trough the nice city, the harbour, along the great Hurtigrouteship ,,Polarlight,,and learned us how to eat schrimps fish, hi. We took the way to north, to the ,,Atlantahavsveien,, the many big bridges from one isle to the others. It was great to see this area. On a ferryboat we met a man who told us, that he works at the Gaslines, two tubes are going from Norway under the sea to Germany. Two tubes with about 3m diameter. (I would not doe this job, I prefere to doe amateurradio). Next morning from Kristiansund nord, to the next isle is a car tunnel below the sea, it is the longest in the world of about 7.000 m, I had a good feeling when I got out of it.(hi). I will go up the Trollstiegen to Geieranger and the Dalsnibba mountain to Grotli. An Norgeman said, we schould better take an other way, there is to much snow this time. So we went through the nice Romsdalen valley where we saw more as twohundred of waterfalls (cascades) falling down the mountains, ----Gudbrandsdal,----Ringebu the wunderful stafkirke, this time we could go into the church. On our last visite, was just a wedding here, so we could not disturb, but we saw the beautiful sunday clothes of the Norwegeans. Lillehammer:--a walk in the city, we see a ,,Troll,, (It’ a ghost, there is a wodden one in the shack of GB2RN Radio, i remember). A walk up to the Ski jumping area, olympic park. The most important to see is ,,Maihaugen,,, here are 100 old farmhouses. Collected by a tentist. (How many teeth did he pull out ?). The morning next, along the lake Miosa, from far the smog of the oldest active steamship of the world, the ,,Skibladner,,. -Oslo, city, walk around the harbour, along the Bryggen, thausend people where sitting in the warm sunny places and restaurant gardens. Going westwards to see in Heddal the tallest, biggest, greatest Stafkirke of Norway. Then southwards, i am QRV on 20 m, working with friends from me home club in Austria. Again in Kristiansand S, we spend again a night in the ,,Fregattenhotel,,. Here we ordered tikets including a capitain dinner on ,,SILVIA ANA,,. It is the quick ferry, she takes 2,5 hours to Danmark, on this small ship is place for ,,only,, 200 cars and ours. Hi Way home via Hamburg, on the highway to Hannover i tested the HP-ampifier (hi), tree minutes with a ,,output,, of 200 km/hour. (,,Adrenalin,, but no fee this way in Germany, hi). Looking forward Sunday next, for Bob and Otto and you dear reader, in the RNARS I.o.Man net 14.335 MHz 12.30 ut, (I am happy to be sometimes the assistant for the assistant on this net) vy 73, Sepp, OE6ESG.
